Thanksgiving Comes Early

Thanksgiving Comes Early
Along with enjoying Thanksgiving stories and dressing up like Pilgrims and Native Americans, our preppers were treated to a festive holiday treat each day this week.  A big thanks to Miss Rachel and Miss Cara (Campbell's mom and grandma) for making our special snacks this week.

Our letter this week was "Ss"
Check out our S songs

A few of our Ss activities….
We picked a color to complete the sentence:  Silly Sarah Snake is _______________, then filled in a color word and colored "Sarah" to match.

Allie decorates a "Silly Sarah Snake."

Rayna makes a "S"strawberry!

We also made Salt paint pictures and found all the "Ss's"in our memory verse
See if they can find them….

Serve the Lord with gladness, come before his presence with singing. Psalm 100:2

(I role played doing chores in a "grumpy" or "gladness" way and they picked the one that matched the verse.) Role playing is an effective and fun way to share ideas with preschoolers.

The "S" sharing on Friday…

During Choosing time, I meet with small groups of children- We are working on 10 frames to develop Math sense or Math Concepts:

Each day this week I provided a ten frame and the children placed the numbers 1 to 10 in the boxes from left to right. Most of the students were able to do this. It is a great foundational activity for developing the understanding of numbers.

Using movement is always engaging…. a few of us built a ten frame on the floor and then filled it with children.  We talked about the fact that when it's completely full it will always be 10, and that 10 is two rows of 5-similar to our two hands- five and five adding up to 10 fingers.  As we one by one filled the frame, I also stopped at 8 and when asked, many of the children "Saw" that 2 more were needed to make 10.  This visual can be foundational!

Other activities during choosing time…

The children thought to make a train and we used it to discuss ordinal numbers

Bree lined her babies up and conducted school:)

A BIG thanks to the donations from our fundraiser! A portion was used to swap out some of our Minds in Motion activities…

Look close, we are learning to jump rope!

Finally a HUGE thank you for all the items for the Christmas Shoe boxes. My goal was to fill one for a boy and one for a girl.  Once again, you have out done yourselves.  With a few items I had on hand to add, we were able to fill 5 boxes. Each box has at least one bar of soap, a toothbrush or more, tooth paste, tissues, a comb, pencils, crayons, a ruler and an assortment of great toys!

These boxes will be added to hundreds of thousands of boxes that will be shipped around the world. A message of Christ's love will be added in the native language of the children receiving the boxes.  In all likelihood, these boxes of items will be the only presents these children will receive!

God bless Operation Christmas Child!

See you in two weeks
